The Pain of Separation- Chapter 11

Bette got up and went to answer the door and when she opened it, Tonya, Dana, Shane and Alice
    where all at the door.
Alice: Hey Bette, hows everything? I hope you dont mind, we decided to drop in.
Bette: No, its not like I was busy or anything. (Everyone started marching in.) Come on in . . . I see
you brought the whole crew just about.
Alice: Yeah . . . hey you dont remember . . . its poker night, we just thought that you wouldnt mind if
    we came over early.
Dana: Hey speak for yourself, this was your idea, I told you that she was probably in the middle of
something. Look at her . . . shes all spiffy and stuff.
Alice: Hey yeah thats true. Look at you, you ***** mama you. We werent interrupting anything were
we? Is there someone in the back that we should know about?
Bette: (Laughing a little,) No Alice. And its okay Dana, dont feel bad.
Shane: So whats up then? It does look like you put a little extra work into your look than the norm.
Bette: What are you trying to say Shane? (She said jokingly as she pushed her on her shoulder.) That I
    look less disheveled than usual?
Shane: Yeah thats exactly what I was trying to say. (Laughing)
Alice: No really, whats with the look? You know that well hassle you until we get it out of you.
Bette: Yeah theres no untruth to that statement.
    Alice: So . . . ?
Bette: Okay so I kinda sorta had a semi date today that I was hoping would last into the night. (She
    winked.)
Alice: Wow okay . . . well needless to say that you werent exactly sure what it was were you?
    Bette: No not really.
Dana: Well what happened? Where is she . . . or . . . he?
Bette smiled and raised her eyebrow
Bette: Dane the breakup with Tina wasnt that devastating. Anyway, everything happened it seems, so
    she had to leave.
Shane: Aw thats too bad, it wouldve been nice to meet her. Its still not the same without Tina
    though.
Dana: Yeah I know, tell me about it.
Alice: You two need to reunite for real though. Like whats the deal? Its been forever it feels like.
    Why is it so hard?
Bette: Its not all that simple Alice. I mean when you think about it, Ive been trying to get Tina back
almost the instant that she left. I have no power in our situation.
Tonya: Do you guys have no faith? Things might work out for the two of them.
    Dana: I dont know Tonya . . . I hope so.
Bette: Something tells me that they will.
Tonya: See? Now if the dumpee has faith, all the more reason why we should.
    Alice: Very well put Tonya.
Tonya just looked and smiled at Alice knowing that she was being sarcastic in a malicious way. She
never understood why Alice never seemed to accept her when she thought that she had done quite a bit
to make friends with her, knowing that it would mean the most to Dana if she at least got along with
Alice if no one else since they were best friends. But thats another story . . . literally.
Bette: Well thanks for the vote of confidence Tonya, I appreciate it. Actually, I appreciate everyones
hopes and thoughts. Theyve been a source of encouragement so as not to give up, and I think that I
really will be able to see the fruits of my labors soon. Hey you guys, Ill be right back, I have to go to
the back to call my boss and see if I can cancel this last meeting that I wouldve had for today.
    Shane: Sure take your time.
Alice: Whoa watch out now! You had meetings that you were canceling for this date? It mustve
    been pretty serious.
    Bette laughed and got up.
Bette: Yeah, she is more than worth it. (She started walking towards the back.)
Dana: Guys, what if this woman takes the place of Tina? What if Bette falls in love with her, and her
and Tina never get back together? Im a little worried.
Alice: Hey Dana . . . like Tonya said, have a little confidence in Bette and her decisions. Im sure that
    T.K will come around . . . eventually.
Tonya: Okay, now . . . can we stop meddling in the affairs of Bette and Tina and have some fun?
    Shane: Hear hear.
    Dana: Yeah youre right.
    %%%%%Tina%%%%%
Tinas doing nothing more than driving around because that would be the only way that she could have
some time to herself without having to go back to Helenas house. She thought that after that encounter
among the three of them that she definitely needed to make some haste advancements towards moving
out. It would never be the same living together now that Helena seemed to care again while she was
trying to get back with Bette. Helena was so hot and cold all of the time, one moment she would
welcome Tinas caring and cuddling, and the next, she wouldnt want to be bothered. Maybe its just
a control thing, she thought. She also reflected back to when Bette called her that night to vent a while
ago and tried to tell her not to get involved with her. She really is a vampire, monster, dragon . . .
whatever . . . Bette was right, I shouldnt have gotten tied up with her. Now, no matter what happens,
Helena will always be around, and Im pretty sure that she will always try and dominate me, but I wont
    let that happen.
    %%%%%Bettes house%%%%%
While everyone was in the front of the house hanging around drinking and talking, Bette was in the
back supposedly calling Franklin to cancel a meeting, but changed her mind. She didnt feel like she
could handle any more business calls right now because her attention was too diverted. She couldnt
think or concentrate on anything else except for Tina. Bette hadnt even touched her before they held
hands when they were going into the house, she missed that so much and the way that it made her feel,
she wanted more of that, and eventually, more of Tina. After debating back and forth as to whether she
would go ahead and call her and see when they could get together again, she decided on doing so.
Bette dialed Tinas cell and as it rang, she anticipated her picking up as she wondered about what she
was going to say to her. Hello, youve reached Tina Kennard. Sorry that Ive missed your call but if
youd please leave a brief message then I will try to get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks. Bette
was disappointed that she didnt answer needless to say, but she left her message after the beep. Hey
Tina, its Bette. I couldnt stop thinking about the unfortunate ending that we had to what I thought was
turning out to be a wonderful evening. I would really like to meet up with you again really soon. Theres
so much stuff that I want to share with you if youll hear it, and if thats not the case and you dont want
to spend a lot of time talking, then I would just love to be in your presence. So . . . uh . . . I guess if
you could give me a call back as soon as you get this then that would be great. Lets see . . . oh yeah
thats right . . . you said brief didnt you? Okay, well my point is that I really want to see you again and
I really would like to talk about us a little more in depth if that would be fine with you. Okay, thats it
and Ill talk to you later, hopefully soon. Bye.
