    The Wedding 22

The sun was shining, the beer was flowing and Bette had started up the barbeque. Much to Alice’s annoyance, Tina had yet to emerge from the house as she had remained inside with her mother when they had all arrived. It was killing Alice not to know all the details of what was going on, but despite her best efforts, Bette wasn’t giving anything away.

In the living room, Tina and her mother were sat on the sofa. The younger Kennard was slowly sipping on a beer, but her mother had passed.

"It means a lot to me that you came with me Mom" Tina said honestly.

"I’ve got a lot of making up to do. That’s why I came here, the wedding was just an excuse really. I’m here to start making things right with my little girl"

The younger blonde was holding back tears "I’m sorry that you had to hear everything that happened back there"

"Honestly? I’m not. I got to see the real you, who you’ve become. And I know you’d never have told me about Bette if I hadn’t heard it in the church"

"How come your not yelling or storming out? No offense, but you always hated the fact I was even friends with the girls, let alone dating one of them"

    "I suppose I deserve that. Christina…"

"Mom, if we’re gonna talk properly, please call me Tina. Christina makes it sound like you’re mad at me or something"

"Ok, I’m sorry, Tina…the thing is, and I don’t expect you to believe me right away or change your opinion on me overnight, but what I said back then, it wasn’t always what I truly felt"

"Mom, you guys put me through hell…"

"I know, and I know I can never go back and change that. But I need you to understand…your father has always held such strong beliefs about homosexuality, that I suppose I just let him push all of his beliefs onto me until I thought that he was right"

    "So what’s changed?"

"Your father and I…we’re getting a divorce"

Tina just raised an eyebrow and nodded in contemplation, saying nothing.

"We’ve been fighting a lot and not seeing eye to eye…" her mother continued "it just wasn’t working for either of us anymore. And now that I’ve had some time away from him, I’ve come to realise how terribly I behaved and how much I let him influence the way I thought and acted"

    1. I have an image to uphold and acting crazy ain’t gonna help. Hahahaha! I am glad that everyone is forgiving. Thanks for the post! I was waiting for it. Highlight of my very dark day.

    2. I hope so too.About the date. I was thinking, we shouldn’t rush things. If you like “magical” dates, we would certainly have to wait for 12 December, 2012, as 11 November, 2011 isn’t the most romantic date. If you don’t care about “magical” dates, we could always go with a summer wedding. Then of course you get to pick our honeymoon. As long as we don’t go mountaineering.

    3. Great update! For the record, I can still stalk you if you like but I am warning you that I will have Liz with me. So if you are really into threesomes…! LMAO! Seriously though, I’m glad that you don’t want to end the story. Thank you for sharing. Kisses

    4. Um… can I ask something? Can we see more of Henry? I would love to see him trying to mess with Tina and be put to his rightfull position (a hole in the ground) by Bette! Gosh! I’m excited only at the thought of it! (sigh) Don’t mind me, I just had to get that out of my head and I can’t wait for your next post.

    5. About the “magical dates,” I don’t know about Dec. 12, 2012 but November 11, 2011 is a perfectly wonderful magical date as it is my birthdate and being smack dab in the middle of sexy and very sensual Scorpio should be a perfect date for them.lol Great update and I’m happy that Tina’s mother has decided to come round and think for herself. Thanks for posting.

    6. I love this story! I understand Tina’s pov because I was raised in a conservative, southern family. I sure didn’t turn like they wanted me to..lol!

    7. Well, you brought brightness to an otherwise very cold and gray day. We are climbing out of the cellar temperature wise — when I got up this morning it was -8 degrees and now we are up to -3 degrees. So, this was a delight. I, too, am pleased you will write on with this story. Thanks, BB.

    8. I love that Tina and her mom talked a bit and are trying to start anew with their relationship. As a mom, I don’t quite understand why she abandoned her daughter to appease her husband but I guess you learn what you live, huh? Even if she didn’t agree with the choices Tina was making, to exclude herself from her life was so extremely hurtful and she’s fortunate that Tina turned out to be a wonderful person without her in her life. Mrs. Kennard made her first grand gesture in this chapter by apologizing to Tina and her friends. She’ll need to continue on that path if she ever hopes to regain her daughter’s trust and love. Let the healing begin for both of them. I know a few readers are requesting Henry to come & try to mess things up but I would love to see Tina’s mom set his ass straight with Bette to back her up. PPS.

    9. It was a happy chapter that made me smile. Since the we-hate wedding was no longer there, maybe the we-like-so-much wedding would come along? But of course the making up & someone getting pay back story line first will be welcome. Thanks for your stories always!

    10. Hey Bealsbaby, it was interesting to have Tina and her mother talk things out. All credit to Tina for giving her mom a second chance. Tina’s mom admitted her failings as a mother and as a person so hopefully this is the beginning of them rebuilding their relationship. It was great to have the gang involved in this too. Tina’s mom has seen the love these gals share. Then Alice… Alice being Alice. She was so hilarious. I loved it all. More please and Many thanks, Your Loyal Fan.
