This Should Be Interesting Chapter 9

The next morning at the Planet

Tina had been up all night. She couldnt sleep because every time she closed her eyes she would see Bettes face. She needed to get her mind off her some how, some way, and the best way she knew how was work. She had been editing all night at her house, but she wanted a good cup of coffee, so she had been at the Planet since 6:30am when it opened. Work and a good cup of coffee always helped her when she needed to keep her mind off other things and right now was a good time for both.

Alice had walked in and noticed Tina way in the back and she knew something was up. She walked over to Marina to get some coffee and some info.

Alice: The usual pleaseummm do you know whats up with Tina?

Marina: I dont know, she just said she couldnt sleep and she decided to get some work done.

Alice: (Grabbed her coffee) Thanks(Walked over to Tina) Hey are you ok?

Tina was so engrossed in her work she didnt notice Alice, so Alice snatched the papers out of her hands.

Tina: Hey!

Alice: Ok Tina what the ***** is wrong with you? Youve been acting weird lately, is it because of Bette Porter? You knowyou look like s***

Tina: Thanksand nothing is wrong with me, can I get my papers back, I need to finish some work.

Alice: No way! It looks like youve done enough work for the weekend.

Tina: S*** Alice just give me the damn papers back.

Alice: Not until you tell me whats wrong.

Tina just sat, she wanted to leave but she really needed her papers back.

Tina: I f***ed up!

Alice: F***ed up what?

Tina: I kissed her.

Alice: What are you talking about, kissed who?

Tina: Bette! Now can I have my papers back?

Alice: Whoa, whoa, whoa! You kissed the straight Ms. Bette Porter? When? Where?

Tina: God!! I kissed her last night in my office ok? You told me to call her yesterday and I did She couldnt have lunch but she suggested dinner Then later on I had to call her back and tell her that I couldnt make it for dinner because I got caught up at work So she brought dinner for Sheryl and I. She stayed and worked on her own stuff it was getting late so Sheryl left and it was just Bette and me in my office. She started looking around and I got up to meet her at my desk and thats when I kissed herThereyou happy now? Can I get my papers back, I need to go to the office and finish this.

Alice: (Still holding onto the papers) Wow! Thats why you werent at Milk last night, but you missed something,What happened after you kissed her? Did she kiss you back or did she freak out and bolt?

Tina: Well she didnt really kiss me back, but she did cry a little, she grabbed her stuff, and she said she was sorry and she ran out.I feel like a total dumb a** for thinking that something could happen between us, butbut I felt something that I had never felt with anyone before, and I guess thats been happening a lot with Bette.F*** Im just being stupid again. Damn what was I thinking?!

Alice: I dont know, but I said it once and Ill say it again. You got it real bad for Bette Porter.. Why dont you just give her a little space and shell come around.

Tina: You know? I felt like I loved her and I wanted to tell her that, but not to get her into bed, butI really, truly loved her and that scared the s*** out of meThere was an instant connectionI guess I just wanted to do what I felt in my heart. I wanted to show herWhat the ***** is wrong with me?! S***, just forget it. I feel stupid right now and I hate feeling that wayIm just going to go home and sleep.

Alice: I dont know what to tell ya, but getting some sleep looks like a good idea..Here are you papers backJust try giving her some time.

Tina: Yeahright! Thanks for the advice anyway. See you later.

Alice: Bye.



At Bettes town home she couldnt sleep either, but she just stayed in bed, all she could think about was Tina and the kiss. She needed to talk to someone so she looked at the time and hoped that her sister wouldnt mind if she called her at 3am, since she was on tour and was in Seattle right now, she called anyway.

Kit: (Trying to wake) Damn, this better be important.

Bette: Hey Kit

Kit: Hey baby sister, is everything ok?

Bette: Yeah everything is fineI just (she started sniffling) I just needed to talk to someone (she let go of her tears)

Kit: Hey, hey, hey,whats wrong? (she just heard her quietly crying on the other line)Baby girl everything is going to be all rightis it Eric?

Bette: Well kind of, but thats not what is bothering meI fell in love with someone elseand and its hard to explain because I had just met this person earlier this week

Kit: Whoa, what happened with Eric, I thought that everything was going good between you two?

Bette: Yeah everything was going good, but it wasnt great. I talked to him this afternoon or yesterday, and he told me that he understood and he kind of felt the same way too.

Kit: So who is this other guy that you met?

Bette: Kit please tell me you wont freak out or hang up on me.

Kit: Bette I promise not to do either.

Bette: Well this other person I was talking about is a woman..(Waiting for Kit to say something) Hello?

Kit: Oh, sorry baby girlUmmmwow! I sure wasnt expecting this at 3am in the morning.

Bette: (Happy that she didnt freak out) Well Im sorry to tell you this way, I just didnt know who to talk to.

Kit: Hey its ok, Im glad you called me.

Bette: Well just to let you know I wont tell anyone, I dont want my life to jeopardize your career.

Kit: Bette its fine and Im fine with it, you can tell the whole world for all I caresometimes you cant control who you fall in love withbut have you told your parents yet?

Bette: No

Kit: Goodjust get to know this other woman better and take it from there, you can tell them later, ok?

Bette: okThanks

Kit: I love you baby girl and nothing will ever change thatNow if you dont mind I need to get some sleep.

Bette: Ok, but are you still going to be at the opening show at the gallery?

Kit: Of course, I wouldnt miss it for the world. Good night!

Bette: Good night!

Monday came around and everything was being set up to start shooting the movie. Bette kept trying to find an excuse to come out of her office, hoping that she would see Tina but she never did. Sheryl knew who Bette was looking for so she walked over to her to strike up a conversation.

Sheryl: Hey Bette!

Bette: Oh, hi Sheryl, is everything ok?

Sheryl: Yeah, everything is going great! Are you looking for Tina?

Bette: Yeah, I thought she was supposed to be here.

Sheryl: Yeah she was, but she put me in charge all week.

Bette: Does she usually do that?

Sheryl: Only if she has a lot of work to do.

Bette: OhWell I better get back to work myselflet me know if you need anything at all.

Sheryl: Ok thanks

The week had gone by fast and it was already Friday evening. Bette wanted to or needed to talk to Tina. She had been going crazy all week; she needed to make things right with Tina. It was 7pm so she figured Tina was still working so she took a chanceShe arrived at the security gate and told the security that Tina Kennard was expecting her. So he gave her a pass. That was easy

Tina was just about to leave when Bette knocked on the door and walked in. Tina just stood there, shocked to see her, but she wasnt about to get hurt again. She sat on the front of her desk and crossed her arms and looked at Bette.

Bette: Hey

Tina: Hi

Bette: UmmI came by to say a couple of things.

Tina: Okgo ahead.

Bette: Well ummmI wanted to say that Im sorry for running out on you last week. I realized that I hurt your feelings when I did that, but I never meant to hurt you, and for that I am truly sorry. (Her eyes started getting watery) After you kissed me I had all these thoughts and feelings wash over me all at onceand (tears started flowing)and I didnt know what to doit scared me because I have never had such strong feelings for anyone in my life. (Walking towards Tina and standing right in front of her, and slowly Tina began to let her guard back down and opened her legs so Bette could get closer.) And from now on I want to listen to what my heart tells me.

Tina: (She had tears coming down her cheeks and she whispered) So what does your heart tell you now?

Instead of Bette telling her, she cupped her face, wiped away her tears with her thumbs, leaned in and kissed her just the way Tina had done to her.
Bette leaned back and it was her turn to wait for Tina to open her eyes. From that one kiss Tinas feelings for Bette were a lot stronger now than it ever was. She opened her eyes and tears started rolling down her cheeks and Bette wiped them away again. They gazed into each others eyes trying to read what they were feeling. They could both feel the passion, the want, and the need to be with one anotherTina grabbed Bettes hands, pulled them behind hershe wrapped her arms around Bettes neck and they both pulled into one another so that they were both hip to hip, chest to chest,both feeling the labored breathing on their face they looked at each other one more time and they kissed each other with more passion. Tina started running her hand through Bettes dark hair Bette was just going by what she was feeling and she started running her hands under Tinas shirt stroking her back. When Tina felt that she wrapped her legs around Bette and they kissed with more urgency They both began moaning into each others mouths stopping a second to get a quick breath. They continued kissing and the throbbing between their legs was getting stronger they felt like they were going to explode. Tina knew now was not the time, so she reluctantly let go of Bettes lips and rested her forehead on hers. They had to wait a few moments before their breathing came back to normal and Bette spoke first.

Bette: I hope that was the answer you wanted (Grinning from ear to ear)

Tina: Actually, yesit was (With a big smile)Im glad you came byI missed you so much.

Bette: So did I

They just gazed at each other for a while loving the sight before their very eyes.

Tina: God, your beautiful!

Bette: Well, youre not too bad yourself, Ms. Kennard.

Tina: (With a small laugh) I think you better take a better look at me cause I look like s***!

Bette: Nope, youre perfect.

Tina: (God I love this woman) Thankscan I ask you a question?

Bette: Sure

Tina: Where do we go from here? Are you sure this is what you want, to be with me?

Bette: I want to be with you more than anythingbut pleaseplease be patient with me?

Tina: I want to be with you too and I will totally be patient and you can set the paceI will never push you to do anything that you dont want to doCan I ask you what happened to Eric?

Bette: Well ummm. remember when I had to meet him for lunch last week? Well I broke up with him, but we are still friendsI hope thats ok with youits just that our relationship has grown be more of a brother and sister kind of thing, but has never really grown as a couple. So he said that he understood and now were just friends.

Tina: OhokBette?

Bette: Yeah?

Tina: There is something that I got to tell you.
