    Tina, Chapter 8

After leaving Dan Foxworthys I was determined to work things out with Alice. So here I sitin my carin the parking lot of Alices apartmentnot sure if Im ready to go in. Tell her what happened Tinashes your friendshell understand. I get out of the car, not sure what to expect. Will Alice be angry at me for just walking out? Will she be concerned? Will she have figured out what set me off? Enough speculation Tinajust open the door and go inside.

I walk down the hall and into the living room. Alice, sitting at her desk, turns to face me. Without saying a word, she tells me shes sorry with the look in her eyes. Did she actually figure it out?

Hi, she says, breaking the silence.

Hi, I reply, not sure how to start.

Im sorry for this morning. I dont know what I said, but something upset you. She didnt figure it outshe just knows it was something she said.

Listen Al, Im sorry for the way I acted, Im putting Dans advice to work. I shouldnt have just walked out without a word. I should have told you that I was upset and why. I just couldnt wrap my brain around what you were telling me.

Come over here, she stands and walks to the couch, gesturing for me to join her. Just tell me what I said. Id like to make things right with us. Youre going through enough ***** right nowyou dont need me ***** things up for you too.

I walk over and sit next to her on the couch. Come on Tina, tell her what she did. This morningwhen you told me that you kissed Dana.

God, dont remind meI know how stupid it was.

Noits not that. Aliceit made me think of Bette and Candace. Alice, Danas engagedto be marriedand when you told me that you kissed herI just looked at you and saw you as the other woman. Without warning, I begin to cry. Im sorry AlI mean, our situations are entirely different, but I just couldnt help but see you that way.

    1. I read your author’s note. Don’t worry about what we want to see. Write what you want to write. Good writing is when you tell the story that you want to tell, not a story that other people want you to tell.

    2. Write whats in your heart, you are doing a good job of it. Father Andy is so good for Bette at leaset she is seeing thing more clearly. She didnt push Tina about coming back home. Get rid of Candace. and her world to slow downand the try with Tina.

    3. perfection, your story is perfection! Write whatever you want to write. It’s your story and you’re doing a marvellous job. Trust in yourself and your ability and please continue…
