I woke up completely unsatisfied and hollow inside. We had sex all night and I felt guilty about it. I mean Jodi is my girlfriend, but sex with her always made me feel different. We never made love, I never felt a connection. It was just raw and unadulterated fucking. I rolled over to find her gone, I heard no music coming from the art studio. I pulled my shirt and pajama pants on and went looking for her. I searched high and low but never found her. I heard my phone buzz.

"Sorry, unscheduled meeting," I read and rolled my eyes, always with the last minute meetings.

I tossed my phone on the couch and I went to the kitchen. I flipped the tv on as my coffee was brewing and my bread started toasting. The news was all about the war, bullied children and the presidential election. Nothing positive ever came from the news. Then I heard my name, I turned the volume up and listened.

It is said that Bette Porter, curator to the California Art Center has stolen the Provocations exhbit from The Met in New York. Such a feat is praised by her peers, and is applauded by the director of The Met.

"I am not suprised Ms. Porter was able to pull this off," said the director of The Met, "When I heard she was in the running for the exhibit, I threw my hands up in surrender. Bette Porter who was once a collegue of mine, is a determined woman who always gets what she wants."

Peggy Peabody, president of The Peabody Corporation, is a major supporter of the arts and of Ms. Porter.

"Of course I will be donating loads of money to the California Art Center and am in full support of Bette Porter and what she wishes to accomplish."

When asked about her personal relationship with Ms. Porter, that subject of course is off limits. She’s very candid about her family and close friends. It seems that Los Angeles has the show of the year, we can’t wait to see what Ms. Porter has in store.

I turned the tv back down and sat on the couch. I was speechless, Peggy hadn’t told me she’d be donating money to the exhibit. Holy shit, what if I ruin it? What if I can’t deliver what I’d promised? All these things keep popping into my mind just as my phone started ringing. I smiled as I thought Jodi had heard or seen the news but alas, it wasn’t her.
