I’m standing here at the door, waiting for Dana to open it, I guess I should have known that she wouldn’t.

I let myself inside and find her sitting at the kitchen table, I don’t think she sees me standing here.

“Dana, baby what are you doing?”

She looks up at me with cold, dead eyes and it hurts me so badly to see her this way.

I want to put the life back in her, I want her to be happy again.

“Why don’t you get dressed, we’ll go to the Planet.”

“I don’t wanna.”

She can’t just sit here forever, I want her fire back, want her to get up and go with me but she just sits there staring at the wall.

I sit beside her, reach over and take her hand, she pulls away from me.

“Don’t..ok please don’t touch me.”

“I’m..sorry…”

She stands, gives me a sad smile “I’m gonna go try to sleep now.”

Before I can say anything she leaves me alone.

I follow behind her, I can’t watch this anymore.

“Dana, wait you can’t do this anymore.”

She turns giving me a look that chills my blood but at least I got some kind of emotion out of her.

“What are you talking about?”

“You know what I’m talking about, you have to face this honey, face it and tell it that it’s not going to beat you.”

She turns away from me, doesn’t say a word as she slams the bedroom door in my face.

“Dana, please baby, please let me help you face it. I’ll be with you every step of the way.”

Laughter spills from the other side, she’s laughing, why is she doing that?

“You can’t help me, no one can.”

Damn it, I wanna kick this door down, grab her and shake her. Why can’t she see that she’s not alone, that we can help her if she’ll let us.

“Please…Dana I want you…to be whole again.”

“Don’t you see, that can never happen, Lara’s dead, I can’t be whole without her.”

She’s crying and it’s tearing me apart.

“Let me in Dana…please….”

God make her open the door, I can’t take this, I want to hold her, take away her pain, make her open the door.

It doesn’t move, she doesn’t let me in. She’s not crying anymore, she’s not talking either.

“Dana…damn it Dana…let me in.”

To my surprise the door opens and she falls into my arms, she clings to me, her breath is hot on my neck and tears spill down her face.

“I want this to go away……..I….can’t make it….I tried but I can’t….please make it…if you love me at all….make this nightmare go away.”

God I can’t speak, this is killing me, watching her, hearing her beg me. I pull her closer and whisper because it’s all I can get out.

“We can make it go away….. together…I promise we will.”
