    Chapter 9

Angelica walked down the aisle of the bus and chose a seat near the back of the bus at the window.  She liked the idea of being away from anyone else so she could isolate herself in her own world.  Hugging her purse close to her chest Angelica actually relaxed enough to get some sleep on the ride to LA.

The ride was smooth and uneventful with the highway lights flashing by giving Angelica a hypnotic daze.  The calming effect allowed Angelica to successfully block out any thoughts of what her future held, it gave her a moment to freeze her anger and crystallize her thoughts which set this action in motion to begin with.  She really wasn’t thinking much beyond the idea of just getting to Los Angeles.

For Angelica the idea had formed in her head years before that Los Angeles held her roots.  It was a romantic notion which cropped up anytime the question of her black heritage reared its head.  Angie knew the donor came from LA.  Her Mom had shared the story once of how the donor lived and worked in LA as an artist.  It was part of the reason she loved art so much.  In her mind she envisioned a large extended family there just waiting for her.  Cousins, aunts and uncles all waiting to meet her and welcome her to the family.  All she had to do was figure out who her other parent was and the big extended family would welcome her with open arms.

Angie wasn’t clear how she was going to go about uncovering the facts but she did know her mother once had lived in West Hollywood.  Not really having any other details to go on she reasoned that the donor must be someone from her mother’s past life in West Hollywood.  She just needed to go there and see.  See what she can find.  See what’s waiting for her there.

The ride to LA went faster than Angelica had figured.  Arriving to the downtown bus terminal at 3:30 AM was an experience akin to riding into the twilight zone.  The place was ablaze with lights from the street, from the terminal parking lot and from the lobby all throwing any activity into the glare of the artificial lights.  The disembarking passengers were immediately informed that the lobby would be closing in thirty minutes.  All passengers were encouraged to wait for their rides outside the building.

    1. Thanks for the update, Jwet. I can understand the dilemma of just how much trouble you want to create for Angelica… enough to scare the rebel teen out of her, but not enough to traumatize her. Look forward to seeing where she starts the search for her family.

    2. She made it longer than I thought she would! LOL! I’m waitin’ for Bette to be Angie’s knight and shining armor and rescue her, because I know she’s gonna need it! It’s fate, can’t wait to see it unfold.

    3. I can’t wait to see how Tina blows up when she finds out that Angelica isn’t in San Diego, and I want to see what happens with Paige. Angelica shouldn’t be wandering around the early morning of LA. Anyways, will Bette get any better?? Can’t wait for the new chapter…

    4. Please let Angie end up at the shelter and let Bette be the one to find her. She must have some of Tina facial features and some of the donor. Maybe one of the gang will see her She is a smart girl to outwit her Mom. thanks

    5. Hi there. Just catching up at last. I don’t want to see Angel get really hurt or damaged but she needs to learn a lesson about the consequences of her actions; but if she can bring T to B or B to T? I forgive her everything!!!!! Lmao. Take care. PPS.

    6. Wait to Tina hears what Paige called Angelica. Please keep Angie safe and allow her mother to find her and the woman that she loves most. It sounds like neither Bette nor Tina have anybody special in their lives. Angelica is that extra special person that can bring those two together again.

    7. Angie seems street smart enough that she should be able to avoid some of the harshness of LA. She did grow up in big city and should have basic instincts to watch herself. She was smart enough to out wit Tina and to get the heck away from Paige. So no street drama for Angie, she’s got a lot of it coming to her already (lol). PPS

    8. Well, she made it to sunrise. That’s good. Still, sleeping on park benches, even in daylight could be disadvantageous. But maybe it will draw the attention of the police and get her safely off the streets. Or would that get her back with Tina too soon and not introduce her to Bette? But she really does deserve to be in deep, deep shit once Tina gets her back. And Tina maybe has finally awoken to smell the coffee.

    9. Foolish me; I thought bus stations stay open 24/7; then again, I don’t live in a big city. And yep, Angie is one smart girl to stay awake, walk in brightly lite streets. And Tina, will she be making bargins with God to get Angie back safe? And thanks for taking care of Paige; like I said; I feel for people like her; always looking for love but don’t realize that the love has to come from within before it can come from without. Thank you for posting your story. Enjoy the rest of your week!

    10. What a treat to see an update! Angie is in deep shit, all the way around! I get the feeling Angie is not aware of Tina’s “dalliance in the alternative lifestyle!” In which ever way this story ends, both Tina and Angie’s lives will change dramtically and I hope in a good way.

    11. Beautifully written chapter as always Sweetie, thank you. But i don’t know if i would rush to change Angelica’s view of the world. It seems as though she’s on her way to that realization pretty quickly. When hunger, cold, and the lack of a place to rest her head hits it’s gonna come down pretty hard. True she is a New Yorker but when it hits you that you’re truly alone in this big city and you know no one or any safe plae to be, panic will set in and change you survival instincts pretty fast. Hopefully she’ll call Tina and explain it and Tina will see that Angellica is rebelling against her set standards to find her own path and finding herself while she’s forging ahead in life. Hopefully Tina will understand. She is partially to blame for her misunderstandings. Please Post Soon. PEACE.
