Bette: I need to go to her.

Olivia nodded.

The two women embraced and then Bette went back down the hallway with more determination than she knew she had. She decided that whatever happened she was staying right there with Tina and to see her baby girl enter into this world.

With one final push….

Doctor: Mrs. and Mrs. Porter-Kennard meet your baby girl!

The doctor held the baby up for the two parents to see. They were in awe of the beauty before them.

They laughed nervously as the baby moved about furiously in the doctor’s hands. The doctor struggled to hold the baby. The doctor handed the baby to Bette and the baby seemed to stop struggling but lungs blared.

Bette: Tee I see she has your lungs.

Tina laughed through the tears.

Tina: And your determination.

Bette spoke to the baby telling her who she was and how much she loved her. Bette’s soothing voice seemed to quieten the baby. Bette beamed with such joy. After a few seconds Bette looked at Tina and she could see the happiness and want in Tina eyes.

Bette could tell that Tina wanted to hold their baby so she kissed the baby, then kissed Tina full on the lips, and gave the baby to Tina.

Tina held the baby in her arms with such care and stroked the baby’s cheek and kissed her. Tears just ran down both she and Bette’s cheeks.

Marie and Joanna stood in the background with their heads join together and crying while watching the two parents with their first born child.

Marie: Those two are in for the fight of their lives with that little one.

Joanna can only nod and laugh through her tears.

An hour later Tina was put into a room and the baby was taken to be checked out. By all accounts the Pluturian hospitals were much like human hospitals except they were all women and paired in at least teams of two. Also the birth mothers were required to stay at least five days in the hospital without exception.

After the baby was checked out Bette and Tina were united with their baby girl. Shortly after Bette’s mother came in the room to visit the baby. The baby was cute as a button, Olivia thought. The baby had streaks of blonde hair and no physical appearance of Bette yet but the baby’s smile screamed Bette.
