You (Holy Crap, Part the Fortieth!)

Alice couldn’t speak through the lump that had appeared in her throat, but she nodded. “Then believe in it, Al. Because when it comes right down to it, all any of us really have to go on is faith. I need you to have faith in me, okay? It doesn’t have to make sense all the time, baby. You’re still coming back from what happened. None of this makes you crazy or weird, it just makes you human.”

“I love you so much,” was all Alice could think of to say, but it didn’t matter because Dana was saying it back, and then they were just holding each other as they both drifted off into a thankfully dreamless sleep.

    **********

Dana really wished Harrison would shut up. She knew the advice he was giving her about not stretching her right arm too much or using it with too much force during her home workouts was important, but she knew it already. That, and quite frankly she wanted to get the hell out of the physical therapy rooms for the last time and head over to the pediatric oncology ward to see the kids. Then she wanted to go home to have lunch with Alice before she went in to do her show. But still, Harrison droned on and on about range of motion exercises and carrying a two-pound cardio weight in her right hand when she took her walks in the mornings.

“You should probably have Alice massage that whole area too on the days I’m not there to do it. It’ll help with the cramping. I’ll come by every few days and check on you; make sure you’re not stretching it out too much too fast or anything. Just take baby steps for now. Short workouts, and for God’s sake don’t think that just because you’re done with therapy you can just go out and swing a racket around. You lost a ton of muscle with your surgery and you wasted a lot, so don’t go home and overwork just to show off or prove something to yourself. Recovery takes a long time, Dana.”

Dana just nodded, and Harrison finally stopped digging his fingers into her sore shoulder and sighed. “Okay, then it looks like we’re done. I’ll tell Dr. Shapiro that your arm and shoulder are looking really good considering everything, and that your blood pressure and heart rate are fine. Really, you’re doing fantastic, just keep taking it slow. I know you and you’ve got some weird superiority complex when it comes to anything physical. Quit that.”

    1. *I bow to thee* Thank you for keeping your promise and for this wonderful update. I didn’t expect Alice’s failure in cooking would result inthis hot little scene. I was nicely suprised. :D And the part in the rain, one word….awww!! I can never get enough of these two together. Btw, nice reference to the dream-theory (of S3 being a dream and Dana would still be alive).

    2. First it got freakin’ hot, and then ended too freakin’ cute. I really liked all aspects of this chapter. Intensity, sweetness, honesty, spirituality and romance. Some portions seemed to border on thoughts that I have had, lol. Well done my friend, well done!!! Ok the stir fry was way overdone, but hell, what results! hehe

    3. I loved the way Shane ran out and told Danish to get in out the rain….Kit was like the mummy and Shane, Al and Dana the kids, hehe. I loved this chapter it was worth the wait :). Btw just to let you know when I have a fit I call it “doing the huck-a-buck”, dunno why but hey its all good. PPS

    4. I’m just gonna have to quit wearing my glasses when I read this story, MutedT. You went and fogged them up again! :) I like the effect that sweaty Dana has on Alice. Thanks very much for all your creative effort. I have to say that I much prefer the alternate Danish reality of your furtive imagination to the bad dream that was S4. I’m looking forward to the new opportunities Danish will have now that Dana is done with her treatments. Good job! Thanks for the update.

    5. There is something about dancing in the rain, I dunno, but I love it. And I liked it here as well. And I had to laugh at the image of Ruth and Tasha, hee. Lovely update!
