    Young Folks – Chapter 13B

Bette spent an hour walking along the beach as she shed tears of mixed emotions; pain and sadness, frustration and anger. Lucky for her, the beach was pretty deserted and there was hardly anyone around. She thought to herself, screw those people who shot her weird looks. She didn’t care, it wasn’t as if they knew who she was.

She was beyond dejected and sad, knowing that things would never happen between her and Helena. Frustrated at the fact that she allowed herself to get sucked into this so deep, and mad for not even trying to stop herself when she was already aware of the consequences. She knew perfectly well that she should move on but it was just so, so, hard.

    “Bette?”

Bette froze in the midst of her tracks when she heard someone call out her name. She was puzzled, none of her friends knew that she was at the beach.

Oh god, please don’t let it be Helena.

    She turned around with apprehension…

Author’s note: Ha ha. You thought that I was so going to stop here right. Okay, nobody cares. So moving on and back to story…

She turned around with apprehension. To much of her relief, it wasn’t Helena or any of her friends but a rather familiar looking brunette.

Bette quickly recognized her as the hot bartender working at the LB but was still unable to recall her name.

“Ah, thank god I was right.” Brunette bartender smiled warmly as she approached Bette, “I would literally die of embarrassment if it wasn’t you.”

Brunette Bartender managed to evoke a chuckle from Bette with that over-exaggerated statement.

Just as she got close enough, she noticed Bette’s tear stained face.

“Are you okay?” She asked in genuine concern.

“Yeah,” Bette laughed stiffly, wiping her cheeks with the back of her hand. “I am totally okay.”

Bette felt a slight burning sensation on her cheeks, embarrassed that Brunette Bartender saw her cry. She had never cried in front of anyone that knew her personally and that included her friends.

    1. I really wish Bette would have been truthful about her whereabouts and I’m confused why she wasn’t. They’re acting like Helena is her girlfriend and Bette is cheating. Sierra seems like a nice person but I don’t think Bette should encourage her if she’s not committed and truly over Helena. There’s nothing worst then being someones distraction or rebound. I like this story, everytime I read it I get anxious to read the next chapter. PPS.

    2. I have to agree with ashtuck and retroboogie on this one. But I’m also wishing that one of them will take a leap of faith and go for it. Maybe someone can give them a little push in the right direction. Great update by the way! PPS!

    3. Poor Sierra…man, that sucks for her!!! Okay Bette’s excuse was el lame-o but very funny…enjoyed the post…looking forward to the update!!!

    4. “Sierra laughed. Bette is just so cute. She felt as if she was melting on the inside from Bette’s cuteness.” I think that may be my favorite line in a story so far because its so true to life. It’s just that feeling you get when you meet someone that you think is just extremely cute…it happens and its real. Great post. PPS
