    CHAPTER 20:

    OTHER WORRIES

I dusted the shelves of Cds, which had been neglected for sometime. Carefully, I went over them with a feather duster, then wiped them down with a rag of pledge. The clean, lemony scent made me smile, as recently I had become enthused by nice scents, thanks to the Cullens bath supply.

Edward sat on the black couch, which sat awkwardly on one side of the room, now that the bed sat where the couch used to be. He was read Wuthering Heights, something I was making him give a second chance.

“Why the sudden cleaning kick?” He asked, looking up from his book.

“Just the happy homemaker!” I said cheerfully.

“You’re going to be just like Esme,” He laughed, “Sorry, Bella, I just can’t stand it.” He tossed the book away, and it landed softly on the bed.

“Your loss,” I said. I picked it up and laid it on the end table, where my other books rested.

“Edward, what happened to the pack?” I asked suddenly. It was a 180 degree turn of subject, but the thought had been bugging me.

“We aren’t positive,” Said Edward, “My guess is that they are done. Finished. Afterall, one did die.”

I flinched. I knew exactly what he meant. Jacob. My mind went to the night before.

Jasper looked at me in confusion.

    “What?” He asked, puzzled.

“I want you to use your talent on me,” I said, “Please.”

“Bella, I don’t know if I can. Your pain is so strong.”

“Please try,” I said, “Jasper, I don’t want to feel this anymore. I want to remember him fondly, and not be depressed.”

“It will take so much work,” He said.

Alice sat beside him on the floor, cross-legged, flipping through a magazine, “Just try, Jasper,” she said, “She’s not going to stop begging.”

    I smiled. “No, I won’t,” I said.

    “Alright,” Sighed Jasper.

I sat quietly while he tried to use his talent. It seemed to take a long time, as I slowly felt my sadness disappear.

“Carlisle thinks they’ve disbanded completely,” Continued Edward, “But I’m not so sure…” He was silent for a minute, then said, “There are other worries.”
