Jorey’s alarm went off at five-thirty in the morning. Today was her first big game and she was starting. She had an early practice to attend at six-thirty. Today was going to be a very chaotic day. Not to mention the events that had unfolded last night at Grey with Aiden. She still did not want to think about it. Why did she say that? Why was she thinking about Madison when it was Aiden’s lips that were caressing her own? Many questions bounced around in her mind. She would have to face them soon enough. But not today, she told herself, not today.
When she arrived at the early morning practice she had completely forgot that the boys team also had practice. Meaning that she would have to face Aiden. She was so distraught after she pulled away from him that she didn’t even stick around for a ride home. She walked. She knew that he would ask her what had happened and why she said what she did. But she didn’t have an honest answer just yet. She had numerous things to think through and figure out. It all seemed too confusing for her. But right at the moment she thought she was home free Aiden came walking up to her, “Can we talk?”
“Talk about what? We have nothing to talk about.”
“Who is she?”
Jorey tried her best to play dumb, “Who is who?”
“Don’t act like you do not remember what you said to me when you pulled away. Because it was crystal clear Jor. Why’d you pull out of that kiss and say ‘You’re not her’?”
“Aiden can we please talk about this at another time? Please? We have big games tonight and I cannot handle this right now.”
“Fine. Then tomorrow can we talk about this? And will you give me real answers?”
How could she give him real answers when she wasn’t even really sure what the hell was going on? “Sure. Tomorrow. We’ll talk.” Then the two of them went their separate ways.
Practice went horrible. Jorey’s mind was in a thousand different places. She didn’t know what exactly to do about it all. The only thing she knew that she could do was call in for advice from someone who would know. Someone who went through it a year ago. So, Jorey quickly dialed Spencer’s cell number as she changed into her clothes for the day.
