Separate Lives Ch.2

 

Helen and Nikki were lying in bed after making love and snuggling with one another. Nikki felt so happy and she jumped on top of Helen and asked her without any reservation, "I wanna have your baby!" Helen taken aback with surprise simply stared at Nikki and was a bitten saddened. She had wanted to broach the subject. "I wanna get pregnant, I mean I never thought of it ever before, but now I just wanna have your baby Helen", she exclaimed with such a sincere and genuine look on her face.  A rush of emotions hit Helen all at once, in one area she felt hurt that Nikki wanted to carry their baby and she felt she should as she was two years older than Nikki, but she could not resist those big brown eyes. Even though they were just married and enjoying their honeymoon, Helen was ready. They would pursue IVF once they returned to London. 

 

Nikki and Helen were nervous waiting at the clinic as they waited their turn with the IVF specialist Dr. Michaels. As soon as they were called, they held each others hand and took a deep breath, here they were on the brink of a new life together, creating a family. As the nurse separated the two to have Nikki and Helen undergo their respective examinations, they both smiled at one another to give each other the strength to get through their nerves. As they both arrived to the doctor’s consultation office, the doctor smiled at both of them and made them feel hopeful. The doctor was to the point saying that both were healthy to carry a baby and that Helen needed to go on some medication to promote more follicle growth so they could harvest as many eggs as possible for implantation for Nikki. The donor father had already met the doctor the week before and his sperm was up for the task so they were ready for the process. The doctor smiled at them as he wrote the prescription out for Helen. The girls set out to begin the new chapter of their lives.

 

As the months went been and Nikki became irritated about not being pregnant yet, Helen was more than annoyed with the situation as she never thought it would be this lengthy nor emotionally draining. Helen was beginning her law career at a firm near home in the central core of London, and so she had to spend the hours gaining experience through participating in cases that other solicitors were involved in. Helen was out of the house by six o’clock in the morning and not home until eight or nine in the evening. Nikki would be off to the club at that point so neither would see each other until Sunday morning, sleeping alone during the night, Helen longed for Nikki, whereas Nikki sleeping through the day, would miss Helen. The distance between them began to grow as they had not made love in about three months as Helen was overly hormonal and her emotions were everywhere, Nikki was withdrawn as she felt she was letting Helen down by not getting pregnant.
