    A to the S to the S

    Ashley jumped feeling her phone vibrate in her pocket. She pulled it out, turning her body slightly away from her mother and quickly entered the four digit code she had memorized. Moments later her phone rang, “Hello…why yes, this is Ashley Davies.” Christine looked at her daughter curiously, “Hmm, I see Coach, well, I’‘ll have to check with my mother first, 6:00am…okay got it. I’‘ll let you know. Bye.”

    Christine raised an eyebrow, “What’‘s at 6:00am?” Ashley sighed, “Apparently, Coach wants us to get a head start on next week’‘s practices…she’‘s calling the team to find out who can come to practice in the morning” Ashley looked pointedly at her mother’‘s leg brace, “Hmm…do you think you can bring me?” Christine’‘s face paled, “At 6:00am? Can’‘t you find a ride or something?” Ashley furrowed her brow…pretending to think, “Maybe…let me call Tristan she might be able to pick me up.” She waited for her mother to go into the house, before dialing Tristan’‘s number, she whispered, “The lion sleeps tonight. I repeat the lion sleeps tonight.” Ashley hung up the phone, smiling and walked into the house.

    Tristan looked at her watch. Damn, never enough time! She looked at the satellite photos of the Carlin house again, frowning. Hmm…I think I’‘ll take the grappling hook after all. She closed Google Earth and reviewed her checklist one more time:

    Tristan walked over to her closet and dragged out the large 120MM Ammo Box in the back. She opened the box reverently and carefully removed her lucky Top Gun hoodie. The black sweatshirt had a Top Gun logo printed on the front and Maverick printed in large white letters on the back. She sniffed tentatively under the arms and sighed relieved. Hmm…that’‘s not too bad. Tristan walked over to the stereo in her room and turned the volume up to seven and hit play. She started dancing around the room getting dressed, loudly singing along…
