    Don’t fall for me

"Don’t fall for me, I may not be the one. I want to please you, satisfy you and protect you but the last thing I want to do is hurt you so don’t fall for me. Don’t think of me as selfish or cowardly, just don’t fall for me. It may not be wise but I don’t want to let you down, the very thought of it horrifies me, so ….please……don’t fall for me!"
I walk into the Club, a dusky, stuffy, dank little nightclub off the beaten path. As I pass the front door I can hear the  somnolent buzz of the neon sign out front, providing a backdrop for the clinking of glasses and drone-like chatter of hundred of best friends and ex lovers.
As I enter the joint, the intermingled smells of smoke, spilled beer and too many people instantly assault my nostrils as I inhale deeply. I push my body through the pulsating throng. Finally finding my way to an empty barstool in the corner, I catch a few glances coming my direction and shake my head and  smile downward. "May be easier than I thought!"
I motion to the bartender…"Gin…and Tonic" I  mouth.  He nods and melts away into the cries of a hundred other thirsty patrons.
My eyes adjust to the dim surroundings, tomblike and womblike at the same time. Bright spots of neon beer signs on the wall stand out, illuminating the faces and cleavage and mohawks of the crowd, while others disappear into the contrasting blackness. "How many of these people have I met before? How many would make love tonight?" I wonder.
My gin and tonic slides in front of me, and the bartender is gone before I can even look up to mouth the words "Thanks". "Wouldn’t have mattered anyway" I muse as it is clearly understood that one speaks of gratitude with cash, not words.
I take my first sip of the simple mixture, cold and icy, slightly sweet and tangy against my lips. I hold the drink in my mouth for just a moment and let my tongue play with the ice and gin and slip of lime pulp, it almost feels like a kiss.
I set my glass back down again and look on at the scene around me.

    1. That was lovely. Really enjoyed it, hate to see it end. Wish you could continue it, the story would be very interesting to see how their love develops and if Tina does indeed fall for Bette, which we hope she would. At any rate, thanks for sharing. Come back soon with more for us.

    2. I have to say I truly loved this story. And for the fact that I was slightly confused as to why Bette didn’t want Tina to fall for her. But when I got to the end I realized…. It was sweet and capture a lot of what happens when you meet someone you know you have this instant connection to. I believe in falling for someone almost as simultaneously as love at first sight. Great story would have loved more. Great writing as always. Caramel

    3. What a treat to see you back! I just love your writing style and could feel the entire encounter. Even though I’d love to see the story continue, the ending was perfect.

    4. beautiful!! the dancing made me think about season 5 of the L word when Bette and Tina danced to “Walk on By” at the lez girls wrap party, and how they kiss and touch each other with little whispers in between…love it!!!
