Chapter Thirteen
Bette breaks out in a big wide smile. Tina is puzzled by this and is even more scared now. ‘She’s making fun of me’ she thinks silently.
“I’m sorry that you find this amusing, can we go inside again. I’d like to lay down.” Tina says in a voice that sounded a little too harsh as she looks away.
“Tina, look at me.” Bette says as she kneels down in front of Tina, forcing her to look at her.
“Why do you think I took an extra week off last time I was here, and why I took another week of now to be by your side?” Bette asks softly.
“Because you felt obligated to, since you got me into this mess. And I’m not blaming you for it, I’m glad I’m here in a way, because I’m away from him finally, but…” Tina says.
“Tina, look back, has my presence here ever felt like I was here out of obligation?” Bette asks again.
“No, I guess… it’s just… what are you trying to say exactly?” Tina asks softly.
“I’m saying that I like you too.” Bette replies with a chuckle.
“You do?” Tina is surprised, she had thought about it silently the last few days, but she didn’t think she would hear it from Bette.
“I do, I have since I saw you the first time in the bathroom at the school.” Bette admits.
“Why didn’t you say anything sooner?” Tina asks curiously.
“You were married, to a man might I add, and what you needed was a friend, not a love crazed woman trying to seduce you. I still believe you can do without that, at least for a while. You’re not ready for any type of relationships that goes beyond friendship, and you know that.” Bette says softly.
“I know, and you’re right, but still, can’t hide what I’m feeling.” Tina shyly says as she looks down in her lap again.
“No we can’t, and it’s been a hard few weeks for me, being so close to you and not be able to be close to you. Have you ever been with a woman?” Bette asks curiously.
“No, but I guess, when I look back, that I fancied girls slash women in high school, and even college, but then I was married so, didn’t act on any of it. I’m a monogamous person.” Tina says. “Could you take him, my arm is sleeping.” Tina add, asking Bette to take Evan. Bette carefully lifts him up, hoping not to wake him. He stirs a few times, but then settles down again.

Perfect. It’s understandable that Tina is needy – this must be terrifying and overwhelming for her. But at the same time – it’s a lot for Bette too. Thanks for the bonus page 3!

Lauren25, You have weaved a very poitant and beautiful story of pain,sadness,friendship and possibly love. As all the previous comments that were made about how that jerk-refuse to acknowledge his name,he needs to be strewn up and hogg tied to tree with bees. Even with the anger at him, I am loving this story of the budding friendship and building love of Tina and Bette. Keep up the amazing job.
Great that they are going slow so the relationship can develop, an old expression comes to mind, don’t run before you can walk. Also looking for Eric to get his punishment for what he has done.

Yes yes yes. So happy for Tina. Wonderfull to see the beginning of forming family. Love seeing Evan with Bette. Just hope Bette will take Tina with her once she is discharged from hopital. Thank you for the great chapter. PPVS.
