A few months had passed. Tina was training everyday then at night working at The Planet as the bus girl. She was pulling enough money in to pay her fees at the gym. Her feelings for Bette had begun to grow deeper each day. It was getting harder to be near her and be just platonic. She would typically push aside what she was feeling and focus on her training. She even grew a friendship with Dana. They hung outside the gym and Dana would spill about Bette’s exes.

Tina was pumped since a couple days ago she had signed her first fight contract against another newbie for 6 rounds.

It was a day before the fight and she felt herself growing nervous. She decided to go for a run. She began to run not sure her destination. After an hour of running she stopped to catch her breath. She looked up to see Bette’s house and noticed she was home. Tina hesitated but knew that Bette could help her with the nerves and what to expect. She bounded up the porch steps and knocked on the door. A few moments later it was pulled open to reveal Bette in a tank top and sweatpants. She had a confused look on her face.

“Tina, what are you doing here? You should be resting up for tomorrow.”

Tina looked down and played with the hem of her shirt. “I….I’m nervous.”

Bette studied Tina’s face and felt her heart almost begin to thud out of her chest. She rolled her eyes at herself for feeling this way. Part of her wanted to tell Tina to go home and just rest and the other part wanted to hold her. Bette stepped aside. “Come in….I have something to give you anyways.”

Tina smiled relieved Bette didn’t turn her away. She walked inside standing in the living room not sure where Bette wanted her.

Bette noticed and gestured towards the couch. “Sit. I’ll be right back.”

Tina sat down resting her hands on her knees taking a deep breath. Bette went into her bedroom and dropped down onto her knees, pulling out a box from underneath her bed. She used the bed as support to get back up. She returned into the living room. She sat down next to Tina, her right knee touching Tina’s left slightly. She bit her lip at the contact as she placed the box on Tina’s lap. “Open it.”
