Chapter 63

Bette put her over night bag down and looked around the house.

“This is a really nice place “
“It is – no one does good taste like two gay male lawyers” Tina replied

“You mean more than two gay female lawyers ?”

“Oh good god yes – Emma has zero interest in curtains, colours or anything like that. She just gets dragged out every now and again and agrees with what Kate wants”
“Sounds like my dad “

Tina walked down the hall and opened a door and two red setters came bouncing out

“And these are Crawford and West “

Bette’s eyebrow shot up as one of the dog bound up to her and investigated her. She stroked him and he decided that she was a friend and not a foe so he rolled over to have his belly rubbed

“That one is Crawford”

“Crawford and West – as in Joan and Mae ?”

Tina laughed “ You looked shocked “
“No – no – its just different “
“At some point you will encounter the cat – care to speculate as to his name ?”

Bette smiled “Is as bad as Crawford and West ?”

“Same idea – different era “
“Don’t tell me – let me think about it – well hello boys – you are just as lovely as your name sakes – are you equally highly strung ?”
“Only if hungry and haven’t had a long enough walk – we will have to walk these two “
“That’s why we are here isn’t it ?” Bette said smiling at Tina

“Partly – we are here to have some peace and quiet and not be disturbed and we are going to eat too much and what else – oh yeah “

Tina’s grin was huge “We get to share the same bed “

“Would you be planning to take advantage of me ?” Bette asked

“Unless you are really unlucky – then sure am Ms Porter “

Bette continued to stroke the dogs who were investigating her and hoping that she would be as much fun as Tina.
“This cat “ Bette said as Tina stood and watched her. It was going to be so good to just be alone with Bette and not have to worry about any disturbances – and Tina was just looking forward to waking up in the same bed as Bette – that was all she had thought about for days.
