    Secrets and Lies Pt.4-Ch16

Every item of clothing she was wearing was completely soaked and as she sat out in the cold and waited as the shivers began to rack her body.

Inside, surrounded by warmth and the wonderful invention of central heating Tabitha sat. She hadnt moved since shed got in, the reality of everything that had happened was still sinking in. The tears had dried up now, she had no energy left to cry anymore. It was now time for some serious moping, depression could be helped by many things but Tabitha preferred; chocolate, mass amounts of cups of tea, watching every black and white horror movie made and subsequently not moving from the sofa for a good month.

She was contemplating getting some chocolate and a cup of tea when her mobile started to vibrate insistently in her pocket. She took it out and threw it across the room with out even looking at who was calling. She certainly wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone after the night shed had. Especially if it was Shane, calling to rub some salt into her wound. Not that Tabitha thought Shane would do something like that, but it would just be her luck if anything else ***** like that decided to happen to her that day.

She got up, glancing at the still flashing and vibrating phone in the corner. She hovered for a moment, wondering whether it could be someone important.

If its important they can leave a bloody message… she muttered to herself, ignoring the phone and going to the kitchen for some much needed gorging.

A few minutes later of scrounging around for any food containing vast amounts of sugar and Tabitha had found one chocolate bar which was made out of soya chocolate or something equally disturbing, half a packet of riveters and a pot of English honey. She could of sworn shed brought loads of snacks the other week. But then again she did live with the human dust bin who had managed to consume the entire contents of the fridge when left at home alone for one whole day.

She grabbed a spoon and went to sit back down, her phone was still ringing. She went over to it to read the screen. It was her voice mail message calling her, which meant she had a new message waiting. She put down the honey, picked up her phone and pressed the answer button.

    You have one new message.

Tabby, its Shane. Im sorry for acting like a *****. Im outside on the street, I dont know where you live on this street but Im going to just sit down here and wait for you to get this message……Ok, Ill be waiting.

End of message, to save the message key two, to delete the message key three.

Tabitha hung up, her heart beating at twice its normal speed. She dropped the phone and went over to the window. She couldn’t see anything, it was pouring down with rain.

    *****. she cursed to herself.

Shed of missed Shane now it had started raining, no one was stupid enough to sit outside in the rain…but then again Tabitha was not going to take a chance.

She quickly shoved her shoes on and left the apartment, she was instantly whipped by the rain. She stepped out of the shelter of her door step and strained to see down the street, she was already soaked to the bone by this point. And decided then that it was pretty pointless trying to stay dry at all. She started to walk, scanning the surroundings for any sign of Shane. The rain was coming down so heavy it was beginning to hurt. Tabitha was used to being rained on, having lived in England, but it was rarely as impressive as this.

As she walked down the road she had to laugh to herself, she was doing a pretty stupid thing. Walking down the street in the middle of a torrential storm to find a woman who had told her she was nothing but a lie and didnt want anything more to do with her. But she didn’t care, reason and logic never really mattered when it came to Shane. All Tabitha had to do was think about those deep brown eyes and how they managed to completely dismantle her from any sensible thought. The way Shane would touch her with feather like fingers that caused a fire across her skin yet were also capable to make her feel so completely protected and secure from the horrors in the world. That when she was around Shane she felt as though she could fight any battle, over come any obstacle, just as long as she was by her side.

With all these thoughts racing through her mind Tabitha was even more adamant that she was going to find Shane and speak to her, there was so much she wanted to say. Her feelings for the girl almost overwhelmed her. She had never been one for soppy romance or corny love stories, but now she knew what it felt like to fall in love she felt like she could sing from the roof tops or write a hundred sonnets, purely on how she was feeling.

With each step she took that feeling became less and less. A dark cloud was covering her world with the realisation that Shane was no longer waiting for her and had probably gone home and had started to forget about her and what they had briefly shared.

As she neared the end of the road a figure huddled on the curb emerged out of the shadows. She stopped, her heart skipping a beat.

Shane? she called, her words drowned out by the rain.

She stepped towards her, seeing the usually cool and confident brunette huddled on the curb in the rain made her want to bundle Shane into her arms and take her away and shelter her from the rain and anything else that Shane wanted her to save her from.

Shane. she said again, louder this time.

Shanes head shot up at the sound of her name being said so close by. She prayed that when she turned round Tabitha would be standing there, she couldn’t cope with any more disappointment that night. But she was almost certain her name had been said out of those perfectly shaped lips in that accent which caused goose bumps to cascade down her back.

Shane stood up slowly, feeling the weight from her clothes try to drag her back down again. Water ran off every inch of her body, but she didn’t notice any of it, all of her attention was on the person standing behind her. She turned round.

Tabitha waited with baited breath whilst Shane got up, she was absolutely soaked through, there was no telling where her skin stopped and her clothing began. When she turned round all Tabitha could do was stare. Her hair was plastered to her head, making her face seem much more slimmer and her eyes sprung out as if she were a deer caught in head lights.

Tabby, Im sorry. she said, taking a shaky step closer.

Tabitha smiled, her heart singing from within. Shane could see the warmth in her eyes and felt herself sigh in relief. And that was all that needed to be said. She couldn’t believe she was going to have a second chance with this woman. She was so happy she could of done anything right then, but instead she chose to pull Tabitha into her arms and hold onto her tight. Tighter than shed ever held anyone, and she was never going to let her go.

Come on, lets get you inside. Tabitha whispered, taking Shanes hand securely in her own and leading the way to her front door.
