Shay sat at the kitchen table working on his homework as Shane puttered about the kitchen making dinner. Putting down the knife she was chopping the vegetables with, she glanced at her watch. “She’s late,” she mumbled to herself as she grabbed the vegetables and threw them into the salad bowl. She fixed three plates, brought two over to the table for her and Shay and wrapped up the other one and placed in the refrigerator.

As she sat down, Shay asked, “Where’s Molly? We always have dinner together.”

Briefly glancing at her watch, Shane replied, a tinge of jealousy and mocking in her voice, “She’s meeting with Kerry McGruff tonight.” She angrily stabbed at her chicken and jammed the fork into her mouth.

Sensing Shane’s frustration, Shay raised his eyebrows, muttered “Okay” under his breath, looked down at his plate and began to eat in silence. As Shay ate, Shane pushed her food around her plate, eventually giving up. She leaned back in her chair with her arms folded across her chest and watched the clock on the wall.

It was almost 8:00 and Molly should have been home over an hour ago. While Shane trusted Molly, she did not trust Kerry McGruff, Molly’s hot shot gay rights professor, whom Molly was in awe of. Ever since the beginning of the semester, after each class, she would come home with stories about Kerry, saying “Kerry did this…”, “Kerry said that…”, and “Kerry believes this…”. She was okay with it at the beginning, glad that Molly found a mentor and seemed to find her calling, but now, Shane was getting very tired of hearing all about Kerry. She was not able to get a word in edgewise about her day or Shay. Molly was completely enraptured by Kerry’s power and success, but what she didn’t know that Shane did, was that Kerry is quite the seductress. She had quite a reputation for sleeping with her students, which worried Shane. She tried to keep her jealousy in check, but when it came to Molly, all bets were off.
