“Last week?! Fuck Molly!” Shane yelled as she ran her hands through her hair in frustration. “This happened last week and you’re just telling me now? Were you even planning on telling me? Or did you just say it because I asked you?”

“I didn’t tell you because nothing happened and it didn’t matter. She came on to me and I told her I was in love with the woman I was married to and nothing would ever happen between us.” She placed her hand atop Shane’s, which was resting on the chair. “Babe, I love you. You know that.”

“I just can’t believe you didn’t tell me. And then, to top it off, you’re still spending time with her!” Shane pulled her hand out from under Molly’s and grabbed her keys. “I need to get out of here,” she said as she headed towards the door.

As she opened the door, Molly said, pleadingly, “She’s my professor Shane. What the fuck am I supposed to do? She’s brilliant and well respected and can do a lot for my career. She knows nothing will ever happen. It’s ok. She hasn’t tried to do anything else since then.”

Her back still to Molly, Shane just sighed and walked out the door, slamming it behind her, leaving Molly dumbfounded and worried in the kitchen. She knew that the last time Shane felt betrayed by her partner she ended up in bed with Cherie Jaffe. The thought of that happening to them scared her. She picked up the phone and dialed Alice’s number. As the phone rang, Molly nervously circled the kitchen table, noticing the plate Shane had set out for her. She smiled bittersweet. “Answer the fucking phone, Alice,” she muttered under her breath.

“Hello?” a panting voice on the phone answered.

“Tash?” Molly asked, uncertain.
