    Window of Opportunity ch. 71

“We won’t know anything until tomorrow. Dr. Wilson gave some directions about food and vitamins and I go back tomorrow for another check. Mom made enough food for an army so everyone get something to eat and we can talk more. Bette and I have already talked about it and we are getting married either Saturday or as soon after if we have to reschedule. There will be a wedding at some point.”

With that the talking began and hugs were exchanged. We made our way to the kitchen and Catherine could have opened a restaurant with the food that she had awaiting us. Angie looked up as we came in but her main priority was the fried chicken leg she was munching on. I was with her on that and grabbed a plate putting some of Catherine’s fried chicken, potato salad and differing types of veggies. Catherine had a plate set aside for Tina and she handed it to her along with orange juice. Everyone helped themselves. James, Wade and Charles brought chairs outside and Shane, Gregory and Sam went to Shane’s to get more. We were becoming a large group but a group that was so fun to be a part of and so full of love. I took Angie’s plate, receiving a not so nice look from her and carried it out to the porch. We all sat around eating, talking and silently hoping for the best.

When no one could eat another bite, Tina took Angie into put her to bed. Kit, Catherine and Helena started clearing away the food and dishes. I made coffee and grabbed a couple of bottles of wine in case anyone was interested. The rest of the evening was us just being us. It was nice to be able to have something to take our minds off everything. When Tina excused herself to go to bed, the party shifted. The younger ones headed to Shane’s and Catherine, Kit, Sam and Charles went to Kit’s. Tina and I locked up, changed and crawled into bed. We talked quietly about the what ifs but neither of us wanted to focus on that and continued to hold out hope that the wedding would go as planned. She curled in my arms, laid her head on my chest and went to sleep.

I lay there realizing how times had changed so much. In my former life I would have been at Shane’s too but now, there was no place that I would want to be but beside Tina. Talking to everyone had helped. It had allowed them to share in our concerns and they responded with love. I wondered how things may have turned out differently had we trusted them our first time around. I wondered had we allowed them to see that we weren’t a perfect couple but one who had struggles would their support have staved off those things that happened. It doesn’t matter now though. They are here for us, love us and support us. Tomorrow, whatever Dr. Wilson decided was best for Tina would be something that they would help us accept and get through. I fell asleep thinking of my beautiful Tina, our healthy twins, a mud caked smiling Angie and a family who kept growing which only added more love than we could have ever hoped for in our lives.

    1. I love this story. Each chapteris better than the previous one, if that is possible. The way that you write the love that Bette and Tina share, is amazing. I love the way that Bette is stepping up to the plate to be there for Tina. Please keep this story going, as I have said before, it is my all time favorite!!!!PPVS

    2. I love how the everyone just pulls together for one another! tina bette take care of her mom will be feeding her herself. being anemic when pregnant is aweful..there are days when you feel like ur steam rolled over… hopefully tina’s iron count will go up enough to keep her home. but if not they can rescheduale the wedding for a few weeeks later. tina and the babies are the most important thing. i think it’s grea that bett eis talking about how worried she is and yet being strong enough for tina to lean on…she has come a long way! :)PPS

    3. Damn this is a good story! I never get tired of it. This chaptr really showed hoe each of them hsve matured in their relationships and how they have stopped playing roles for one another. Instead they find each other’s strengths and lean on them when they are needed. Fabulous update NAG!

    4. I don’t know how I missed commentingn on the last chapter because I read it and loved every word of it. You keep doing marvelous things with this story and I just adore it. Andit looks as though you’ve posted another one already. I hope that’s the case. It’s wonderful.

    5. They really do have a wonderful family. I love fried chicken but don’t indulge as much as I use to. I would have loved to have seen Angie all covered in mud. At first you had me scared in a different manner. Not that this health issue is not bad but I was fearing something else. Glad that you are able to get some sleep.

    6. Hope Tina doesn’t go to the hospital, but if she does they need to get marrid there and then reschedule the other wedding for their friends and family…no one has to know just them, but I’m holding out for the planned wedding, and honeymoon! PPS

    7. Great post I’m glad it was something that can be taken care of by following doctors orders as apposed to something life threatning. Hopefully Tina will improve enough to be able to go on with her wedding. Good to see Bette being so supportive she is afraid but is not holding it in she and Tina are being there for each other. 8. Oh, I hope Tina will not blame herself for her severe anemia. Bette’s right. Her health and that of their babies are more important than the wedding. They can always reset if she’s really not that well. It’s heart warming how their extended family come together during times of joy and times of crisis. Having such a strong and tight support system is truly a blessing. I enjoyed Angie’s moments of pure joy with her grandparents. And Tina’s emergency “vomit” exit to Kit’s office with Bette in tow was a classic Tina-on-fire move. LOL! They’ve both changed for the better, are more honest and communicate with each other more than ever and their love for each other just keep going deeper and stronger. It’s really amazing to read and watch their love grow. Thank you for another brilliant, lovely and richly detailed chapter, NAG!!! Flying kisses to your little G. Mwah! :>

    9. Oh my, oh my, NAG you sure do your reserch, Tina needs to really take care of herself and let the others help where and when needed, being anemic during pregnetcy is no joke. Love that the fam are all involved in the support process. Now please don’t let us wait to long to find out if Tina’s going to get her wedding day. Thank you, Md

    10. Hope the wedding goes ahead and Tina does not have to go to hospital.Loving how the whole family come together to show their love and support.I also love it how in every chapter you add a new twist to the story which makes us wanting for the next chapter.PPS

    11. Wow – it is mind-blowing how each chapter gets better. I have a good vibe for the wedding, and it will be even more special (is that possible?) becuase of the ‘what-if’s. As always, thanks for the love and effort you put into bringing us this little slice of heaven.

    12. VERY nicely written chapter. It’s great to see B&T approcah this problem as a family along with Angie. I love to see their circle of family grow bigger and ever so stronger. Hello G man :o).
